How We've Helped

Our primary aim at Mental Health Muscle is to provide those struggling with mental ill health, access to fitness facilities, physical activity and social development. The money that we raise together at our events and with your fantastic donations, pays for full annual memberships for those who need them.

For those non-gym based lovers of exercise, we also support local people to engage in other forms of physical activity, such as swimming and equestrian, to support their mental health recovery journey. Furthermore, our awareness workshops, training sessions and community initiatives will ensure we bring funds in to continue to provide the best service and experience for everyone involved.

Below are just a collection of the individuals we have supported and we can't wait to be able to support more!

After receiving some funding we applied for we were able to put a small group of local fitness professionals through the Mental Health First Aid course. A great personal development journey but also to benefit the individuals they were working with and supporting in the local area of Newton Abbot! Really pleased that the three gentlemen enjoyed the course and are now using it fully in their work!

I joined the Army in September 2006 joining my local Infantry Regiment. In 2009 I was deployed to Afghanistan. Here I was very quickly thrown into the thick of what would be the bloodiest and most traumatic 6 months of my life. After 10 years of tough service, I was diagnosed with severe PTSD and discharged in June 2018. Mental Health Muscle have given me hope, for that I am eternally grateful

I have suffered with my anxiety and depression for many years and gone through quite a big weight loss journey. I struggle to hold down a routine and I was unable to maintain my gym membership. Having the opportunity to be able to go to the gym anytime I like now after receiving the support from Aaron and MHM I can get back to the place I love to be, without worry anymore about my unemployment.

I feel incredibly honoured to have been supported by Mental Health Muscle. Since my teenage years, I have struggled with low moods, very low self-esteem and self-doubt with a self-sabotaging perfectionist mindset and more recently, this has manifested into a severe anxiety disorder. However, I have learnt to deal with these difficulties through fitness.
